The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has issued its decision in [the JMRI-v-KAMind] copyright appeal, and it's a ringing victory for JMRI and open-source in general.

22:09

<plocher>

In summary, the Court decided:

22:09

<plocher>

* The Artistic License does put valid conditions on the use of licensed software.

22:09

<plocher>

* Those conditions limit the copyright license, and actions outside them are infringement.

<Gman>

i didn't realize you had a pre-meeting to talk about agenda

22:13

<Gman>

fun.

22:14

<plocher>

22:44

<JBeck>

22:45

<Gman>

22:46

<stevel>

22:46

<stevel>

stevel is shocked

22:47

<Gman>

heh

22:55

<stevel>

Gman: what does GNOME do? do they allow nominations of 3rd parties?

23:51

<Gman>

alanc: how would i debug my laptop not being able to output to an external screen?

23:52

<Gman>

xrandr seems to detect the external screen, but can't seem to output to it, either by the function keys on the laptop, or using xrandr

23:53

<alanc>

check for messages in /var/log/Xorg.0.log

23:54

<alanc>

not sure what else to check - would have to ask the driver guys

23:55

<Gman>

seems to pick up the right modelines

23:57

<Gman>

and all the left/right/inverted foo works ok

23:58

<Gman>

ahh, got it to work

23:58

<Gman>

seemingly needed to restart my xserver for some reason

23:59

<Gman>

but only enough can only mirror, not output entirely
